Kristen Swenson and Erin Derge are yet another local pair to take the plunge into boutique ownership, this time with a twist. Ginger Root Design had its grand opening this past Saturday. Friends, family and customers alike came out to celebrate the rather intrepid journey the now business partners set out only a few months ago.  Akin to the pair’s former employer, Treasury Boutique, the pair focus on authentic and beautifully curated vintage apparel, though Ginger Root Design expands upon that concept in a different manner. Erin and Kristen opened Ginger Root Design with a focus on tailoring and design services–altering the old and creating the new. Aside from offering tailoring, their own eco-friendly designs from ReVamp, vintage accessories, art and jewelry; Ginger Root Design will also begin offering sewing classes to the masses.

With extensive tailoring backgrounds, respectively, Ginger Root Design aims to become more than a shop and more than a tailor, and I wish nothing more than success for these two bright and almost ridiculously sweet designers. Kristen and Erin were able to take a break to answer some questions on the past, present and future of Ginger Root Design.

To read the Ginger’s interview from back in September, shortly after opening their doors, head to ReadysetDC.
