“We wanted to be the first to share some news with you. Erin and I have been doing a lot of really hard thinking the last few months, and we have realized that we can’t do it all. We finally acknowledged that we would have to choose between being retail store owners, or being clothing designers and tailors. As much as we have loved and enjoyed our local artisan boutique and helping cultivate that community in DC, our hearts are telling us that we want to be clothing designers,” – Kristen.
In an effort to fully focus on our clothing designs and 1st floor tailoring shop, the lower-level boutique will officially close in the middle of May, 2013. Deep down we truly believe that we can make much more of a difference in DC through our locally-sewn designs and showing the public what modern tailoring can be. We have not been able to produce a full line of clothing designs in the last year because our focus has been split between the different parts of their business. As sad as it will be to say goodbye to the boutique, we are very excited to have the time to design and get back to our main passion again. We’ll be celebrating our amazing local artists as much as we can throughout the next month and the great things they’ve done for us. First up is Jennifer Jeremias’ Spring Launch Party this Thursday from 6-9pm.
We truly appreciate all the support you and the city of DC has shown our retail space. We are excited to move forward and produce our first full line this year with our summer collection. Everything upstairs will stay the same. We’ll be open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 12-7 for scheduled appointments. And you’ll be able to shop our house line in the tailoring shop, online and at markets/events in DC.
We’ll keep you updated on the final parties in the downstairs space!
Thanks again for all of your support!
Erin & Kristen.
