This week’s thrift store dress has been in our collection for a while, waiting for just the right inspiration to make it more fun. There was just way too much fabric, and it was too boxy.

To start things off, I ditched the sleeves, and recut the neckline to let the collar bone out a little. I added side seams to tailor the bodice of the dress more, and replace the elastic to nip in the waist. I then hemmed the dress (and kept the scrap to turn it into a reversable cowl scarf-coming soon…). For the finishing touch, I hand-beaded on ball chain from the thrift store for that little extra sass.
Wear this dress with sweater tights and your favorite boots for a casual day exploring the city. Mix and match patterns with a crazy jacket. Rock it at a fashion event with bright color tights, wedges, and a statement necklace. And wear this breezy dress with kickass earrings in the hot ‘n sweater DC summer.
Layered up!
Until next week!
