Anyone who’s been following us online knows how excited we are that DC vintage establishment, Meeps, is opening its doors again. After being closed several months for renovation, the store has re-launched with a whole new setup that includes a new store layout, a buy-sell trade system and a new costume shop (coming in the fall!).
We had the pleasure of being present at Meeps’ opening party on Thursday, and what a blast! Drinks, DJs, and of course, vintage galore! The work of owners and curators, Cathy Chung and Katerina Herodotou, definitely shined through. With reasonably priced but impeccable vintage pieces, it was hard to keep our wallets in our bags (yours truly was pining for a $36 pair of white, cat-eye frames).
And the store’s interior was truly something to behold. Clean, sleek and modern, it was a real treat for the eyes and did a wonderful job of showcasing all that yummy vintage.
Of course, one of the best parts of store openings are all the stylish people that show up! We had the pleasure of meeting these charming folks.
Lookie! An adorable retro dress donned by DC newcomer, Mariclaire. Mariclaire and her creative partner, Mia, recently came to the district to design and develop a new knitwear line. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled to see what they fun pieces they create!
Leigh and Erie are some crazy-fashionable fed workers! They subtly sneak in cool retro pieces to shake up the more conservative style at work (also, if you’re loving Erie’s fantastic plaid dress, know that she got it from none other than Butler and Claypool).
Leigh’s also started “Bow Tie Fridays” at the office (which happens to be at the White House). Personally, I really hope it catches on. Also, notice his paisley tie, tie bar and pocket square! Who says guys can’t accessorize?
