If there’s one trend I’ve embraced (and not just embraced but maybe hugged so tight that it’s having problems breathing), it’s collars. Collar, collars collars. Oxford collars, peter pan collars, sailor collars. I just loves me some collars!
Of course, this outfit was no exception to that. The top in particular is one of my favorites, with it’s soft yellow color, scalloped edges and knit fabric. But because it’s a bit more “old fashioned” looking ( or “Grandma Chic” as I like to say), I was originally unsure about pairing it with the pleated skirt. I was concerned the outfit might look too frumpy and not “fitted” enough. Obviously I decided to do it anyway: I was having too much fun with all the outfit’s details to worry about whether or not I looked shapely in it.
Fun fact! A total stranger tried to pick me up while I was wearing outfit. In his car. At 1 am. In Brookland.
I don’t why, but I really love antique brooches. I especially love wearing them Victorian style with my collars. I nagged this one from Mustard Seed.
My favorite ring! Made from an antique button that I asked Rachel Pfeffer to transform into a piece of jewelry. You may not know this, but one of the perks of working with local artists is that they’re real people that you can talk to and thus request custom orders from, woo hoo!
