This week’s dress was donated by our neighbors Rock it Again when they were closet cleaning and found a few damaged goods. The dress had a few stains here and there but had plenty to work with. We wanted to not only give this dress another life, but make it way more wearable at the same time. Below is the before picture of the front and back:
After slicing the dress in half, we removed the straps, changed the shape, and finished off the previous “top” into a skirt. With any scrap fabric that could be rescued sans stains, we then pieced together to make a crop top version of our Reversible Cowl Top. The Cowl and shoulder piece were cut from surplus yellow linen fabric that we had in our collection.
And now for the many lives of this dress:
(And you can buy it here! Or, try it on in our DC store!)
Wear the top cowl forward with statement earrings, City Bloomers, and cute wedges.

Flip the cowl to the back, wear your favorite shorts, and don’t forget your favorite statement necklace!

Layer the skirt with the top either way as a dress for work. Pair with some simple heels or black ballet flats.
And just when you thought you would have enough outfits from this pairing…
Wear the skirt as a top with a belt and shorts or skinny pants and pair with a kickass necklace.

Wear it sans belt on those ridiculously hot days with some colorful Earrings.

And that’s it for this week’s About a Dress. Until next Friday…
