This week’s About a Dress, or shall I say About a Vest brings us way back to when Erin and I were sewing out of my apartment in Shaw 3 years ago. I believe we scored this suit set at Value Village shortly after Erin moved out here, and I LOVED the color and buttons. However the suit set was shapeless, unflattering, and boring compared to sass the buttons had. This jacket needed some curve and BAD!!
To start, I cut the jacket in half and ditched the sleeves. The old pocket details were not flattering, so I kept the buttons in tact but lost everything else. In order to create the peplum shape for the jacket, I cut apart the skirt to add just the right amount of flare. To tailor the coat, I added princess seams to the front and the back. And finally I recut the armholes to keep this baby as a vest so you can wear it 3-4 seasons of the year.
